How exactly do the FSB:SDRAM:PCI ratios go for the CUSL2?

How much tweaking is available with the three different busses? I know I can do 133 fsb and keep my ram at 100 while running the PCI at 33. That's all fine and dandy but what about when I go higher than 133? Can I keep the ram and pci busses at 100 and 33 while raising the FSB? I'm thinking of picking up an OCed p3 700 from compuwiz but I only got pc 100 ram and pc 133 ram is pretty pricey (for 256 megs). Thanks in advance.

The FSB/RAM/PCI ratio will remain constant even if you overclock. That is, if you set the ratio to 133/100/33 and overclock the FSB to 140, then the FSB and PCI speeds will be 105 and 34.5 respectively.

Your RAM should be able to do 105+, though your CPU may not be able to run at 980Mhz (7 * 140).

That's the beauty of that board - plus you get the quality and excellent support of ASUS. That board was an AnandTech Editor's Choice.

You ought to go for it and see if Compuwiz has a 750. :)

Actually I already emailed compuwiz and he has some p3 700s that will do 933. He also has one that can do 1Ghz but I only have PC100 RAM. I guess I cold sell my 256 meg for 225 bucks or so and get a 256 meg stick of pc 133.

If your PC100 is stable at 107Mhz, which it could very well be, then you wont have a problem running a 700e @ 1000. Just use the 133/100/33 ratio and set the FSB to 143 and you'll be at 1001Mhz.:D

I have a 256 meg stick of Micron pc-100. I looked on the chips and it says -8A. I'm guessing that means 8 ns. Would this stick be able to hit 107 mhz?
