How exactly do school discounts on software work?

My local university bookstore has software at discounted prices for students only. I was interested in buying a few pieces of software like Office 2003 and Photoshop Elements. I thought I remembered hearing somewhere that school licenses are only valid for the duration that you attend school. Does that mean the license will expire when I graduate or something and then I can't use the software anymore?

I'll ask the salesclerk when I go to buy it obviously, but I won't be able to stop by there for a few days.

Also keep in mind that any educational version typically cannot be used for commerical uses

Using it to create stuff that you then make a profit from?

And obviously it won't know. It can't stop you from doing so; it's just against the license, and you could theoretically wind up in court over it.

You're all making generalizations that aren't necessarily true. I read the agreement I signed, and I'm allowed to use the software even after I graduate.

Yes, but program will continue to work

The program will coutinue to work, its not like they have a way to check, but if you want to be a good boy, then uninstall it when you graduate ;) otherwise, just ignore them.
