My friend was having issues with skipping on her laptop, so i checked it out, and it appears she's only got 192 megs of ram, for her 1.8 processor, so I was going to offer to help her upgrade the ram, atleast to 256, or higher if possible.

How easy is it to do this? and is there a site somewhere that can walk me through it? I can't believe they sell laptops with such low ram in this day and age..... :D

What kind of laptop is it? As Scatterpack already mentioned, it ought to be a piece of cake.

BTW, if she's running WinXP, up it to 512MB if possible. RAM is still fairly inexpensive and a wise investment.

Usually there is an access door on the bottom you can open to access the memory slots. It's pretty easily install memory on most notebooks. It's like doing it on a desktop PC. You can probably look up the specific instructions on the manufacturer's web site. I know Dell has detailed instructions with drawings.

Not an issue with any laptop made within the last few years, it's even easier to do than installing to a desktop. It was with older laptops that installing more memory meant a total dismantle.
