How easy is it to use multiple drives of different types

I'd like to put my op and some small files on a small ssd and use a nice mechanical drive for heavy lifting. How easy is it for a noob making his first build to do something like that.

Just pay attention to the directory big programs (like games) install to, don't get too skimpy (like a 64GB SSD for Win 7 or 8), and you'll be fine.

No problem at all. Just install the mechanical drive after the SSD is connected and the OS is installed.
