How easy is it to remove sound card in a thinkpad?

Well, I've got this R40 for a little over 6 months now, I know it's still covered under warranty, but I'd hate to ship back the entire unit, so does anyone have the same experience? How easy was it?

Unfortunately, the sound card is built on the motherboard of the Notebook. So you'd still have to send in the whole thing.

I will second that. Did you look into the possibility of it being a software or driver issue?
