judging from how much xbox360's went for and how crazy people are, it'll probably sell for $1000+ easily.

i love this thinking. I have a feeling that the ps3 market will not be as hot and you shouldn't correlate the future from the past.

You're wrong.

Your logic doesn't make too much sense.

Selling at $1000 is less than $400 profit ($600 console, taxes, ebay/paypal fees).

You want to skip 2 days of work and knowing that you are the boss, I assume you get paid decently. So I'm sure you make at least $200/day.

You might as well skip out on the long wait in the cold since you will come out the same monetary wise...that is unless you are not taking any PTO/sick days to spend the two days.

Fat lot of good that'll do you when Redneckville, USA's WalMart only gets 2 PS3s, if any.

Meh... I'm not camping out days for that crap. I'm taking the wait-one-year-or-more-and-buy-the-system-at-a-reasonable-price approach to the PS3. If I have the opportunity to grab a PS3 without excessive camping I may do so purely for profit, otherwise fvck it.

P.S. loup garou - One more post to 30,000!

you guys are crazy if you think that these will sell for $1000 or less ...

the PS3 will go for between 2K and 3K on launch night, possibly more. mark my words.

a 360 I sold launch night on ebay went for $1700. the PS3 is WWAAAYYYY more wanted than the Xbox360 was, and there is going to be only 400k of them.

Is it bad that Im seriously contemplating waiting outside for all these nerds to come out of the store with ps3s and robbing them?

  1. 1. i dont know how early should i go to wait inline for a ps3 on the launch date, and.
  1. 2. what is the best way to save my position in the line if i have to go to the bathroom or go to get some thing to eat for 1 hour or 2 hours?

To answer this question, you can think about, How early did people go to wait in line for the 360 @ launch and actually get it in a city and what they took with themselves to stay warm and kill time??

if you dont got a pre-order... you dont got a prayer.

If you realllly want one...go 4 days before just to be safe.

OR

be smart and just wait till next year. By the time March/April rolls around there should be a PS3 revision, and they will have gotten out the kinks stuck in all the launch consoles, and you should be able to walk in and get one without a problem ;) And even if they aren't always in stock, they'll appear. IIRC I remember the PS2 shortage lasting through part of the summer - by then most places had them but stores like EB and walmart would sell out mid week but always get more next shipment

I never thought about that and I upgraded to Executive membership a few months ago.

I'd be pissed though if they didn't enforce it.

I do not think they will. I have the executive membership also and I hope they do, though.

Last year, for the 360, I had that special Sam's Club card that let people in at 7AM (Business Member?). They did not honor it there and they let anyone who wanted one in teh door (provided they had some sort of memebership).

There is also a rumour going around that Costco is letting employees get first dibs on the console.

I have a Target store that's 5 minutes away from me, I'll probably take my chances and head there.

after thinking about my original post, im thinking that they will either go one of two routes:
1. voucher system mentioned a few posts up (or)
2. everyone gets in the same time but only for the system. meaning gold club members are directed to the ps3's, pick one up and head to check-out. that or costco makes an exception for that one day to let even gold members in an hour early. which to be perfectly honest, i think is unfair to business/executive card holders. they didnt dime out the extra $50 so why should they enjoy this perk?!

exactly. I tired telling that to Sams Club last year. After that, I never went there again. It doesn't matter this year though, b/c all the Sam's Clubs near me closed down.

No one in my town gives a crap about console launches. I will be able to walk right in any time on launch day and grab one. Although, I won't because given Sony's track record, the PS3 will most likely be buggy as hell. Rather wait for a revision

I'll be sitting in Wal-Mart and buying at midnight. Fvck sitting out in the cold. I'll be nice and comfy in a heated Wal-Mart for a few hours.

Has anyone checked their local stores for lines yet? I'm going to try to start tonight but i'm thinking that its to late. I got my camping stuff in the car, food and water and have the day off from work tomorrow. I saw in the news this morning people already lined up, big lines already in some stores around NYC.

I'm going to check several stores and hope that one of them has a shorter line than 10 people.
