My Town: Text

It seems our Financial section is pretty far below the average, but we make up for it in just about every other category...except maybe weather.

How did your town do?

Hahahah, Lisle hit #20. I remember someone here claiming that he didn't feel safe in Lisle and shit. And Naperville didn't even place now, what the heck changed in one year?

Oh I see, they are no longer considering cities with a population greater than 50K.

I grew up in Naperville, left in 2001. Going back for visits of family and friends, I think I really grew up at the best time possible. It's just too much now, all the huge money coming in makes the place feel like a yuppie paradise than a town or community. Plus the road infrastructure and the downtown area have stayed pretty much the same while the city has grown from around 20K to 150K. They really need to try and fix the congestion.

I guess they excluded all of last years top places because I don't see any of them. I'm giving serious consideration to moving to Sugar Land, TX in a few years which was last years #3.

Anyways, if I live about another mile north I would be in #79 - Pike Creek, DE. Not a bad place to live but the property taxes are actually much higher there than where I live. They say is around $1500 on a 270k house which is actually high for around here...our property taxes are very low but the public schools suck ass as you can see by the ratio of public/private school attendees. It would probably be even more in favor of private schools except it's "within town limits" and DE buses kids from the ghetto to the suburbs and vice versa. I would never raise a child here but for now it rocks.

Wow, I never would've guessed that Suwanee, GA would've hit #10. It's right near where my mother lives, and while it and the surrounding areas (Alpharetta, parts of Buford) are very nice, I guess I never thought how it'd stack up nationally.

I have to ask, do they pronounce, "Papy-on" or "Pap-eh-lon"?

Illinois being of the Lousiana Purchase retains a lot of the French names for towns and areas but I'm always fascinated by the randomness in how either the correct or the Englishfied pronounciations are used consistently. IE: Des Plaines == Des Plains but Des Moines = Da Moyn.
