I've got an interesting situation right now..
Basically things usually work like this:
1. gf gets paycheck deposited at the beginning of month
2. we pay rent/her student loans/few bills
3. i get my paycheck deposited the middle of the month
4. pay a few smaller bills and my loans
Well, we're obviously between paychecks, I noticed we were getting a bit low so I made a cash deposit via the drive thru to a teller the other day at 3:00 pm.
Apparently they have a 2:00 cutoff time for deposits, however I always assumed that cash was different. I also checked my balance via the bank's online banking feature when I got back home to verify that it was actually credited. It said it was credited on the day I made the deposit.
Checking it today, we're now in the negatives (fees) and the cash deposit I made is showing up as "processing" where it had shown up as credited earlier....
So... I spoke to my banks customer service call center - they were less than helpful and even went as far as saying the online banking feature is only for balancing your checkbook and that it's not always accurate (WTF?). She also couldn't tell me why my deposit wasn't credited immediately when past cash deposits had been.
Every other bank I've ever used, even smaller rinky dink banks in the middle of nowhere credit cash immediately when handed to a teller/drive thru (not atm of course).
So what now, just suck it up and pay the fees? Try talking to a local branch manager come Monday?
Also, how does your bank handle cash deposits?
