I'm talking about the regular edition, is it just a box with cd and a key with No time on WOW for $59?
And then you have to set up an account online?

What's to stop me from just setup an account without buying the Retail Box? According to the forum, the open beta client will work with the retail WOW.

It's a box with some pretty box art, a manual, probably a few CDs, and a 'free' month of play.

Are you sure? I thought only the collector's edition comes with "10 days" of play.

You get a free month for you, and you can give away a 10 day trial account to a friend who would like to play the game. They can then buy the game and continue playing with their same characters.

Well, if your friend get a 10 day trial account, that probably means they don't have to buy the game, all they have to do is sign up to for a subscription, since if they get to keep their characters, they already have an account. Right?

Maybe collection's edition is a better deal, one game two accounts.

If that's the case, then that is a pretty hot deal. You could go in with a friend on the CE and get 2 accounts for less than what the standard retail package sales for.

yeah, it's 2 accounts, but one has a 10 day trial, and the other has a 30 day trial.

I'm sure they thought about that, the 10 day pass probably requires you enter a new CD key after it expires.

Is retail on the normal edition $60? If so, the $45 CC deal is looking good now, I was going to wait until Jan to buy it but I may pick it up early if I can save $15.

The 30-day free pass is for the original purchaser of the game.

The person receiving the 10-day gift pass will have to purchase their own copy of the game + game subscription to continue playing after the initial 10 days.

Everyone else is selling it at $50, I'm pretty sure $50 is retail.

"Players who will be accessing the game through the 10-day pass will create their account for that exactly the same way as a normal player, by visiting the account-creation webpage.

Those who wish to continue playing the game once the 10-day free period is over must first visit their local retailer or online store to purchase a copy of World of Warcraft. Once they have obtained a copy of the game, they can log in to WorldofWarcraft.com using their 10-day pass login information and then enter the authentication key that came with boxed copy into the field found at the bottom of their account page.

That's all that's required to activate a full-fledged World of Warcraft account once the 10-day free period has expired. Any characters that players have created during the 10-day trial, along with all their items, will be available for them to continue playing!
