How does WinXP identify CD-RW?

WinXP has different icons for CD-ROM, CD-RW an DVD drivers.

Recently I upgraded my CD-RW from a YAMAHA 2100S to a Sanyo BP5. WinXP no longer recognizes the BP5 as a CD-RW. The functions remains, just different icon.

Anyone has ideas about how WinXP identify a optical driver as a CD-ROM, CD-RW or DVD? So I can modify the registry to make my BP5 showing as a CD-RW?
