My Dell Dimension's hard drive crapped out, and needs to be replaced.

So I'm buying a new hard disk, and at the same time I'm thinking about adding a Firewire card since I'll be opening my PC up.

I've heard thatt Windows XP will only install on one configuration. So if I change my hard disk, will it think that I've pirated it? What should I do?
 
configuration typically means motherboard. you can change almost every other component and not have a problem, but change your motherboard and watch windows scream like mary-jane in spiderman.
