How does unemployment work

I am unemployed was employed fo several years need a job and money. Can i go on unemployment for a few months and find something more steady.

If I use unemployment benfts will it look unfavorable upon me when i search for work???

In Cali, it depends on what you made in the highest earning quarter in the past year, and how you and your last job parted ways.

If you quit/walked out/etc, you get none. If you were laid off or a contract/temp position ended, you get it automatically.

Nobody knows you're on unemployment but you, the state, and possibly your previous employer (because they're contacted to verify what you told the unemployment office). So I don't think it would affect your next job...

I think the maximum benefit is $360/week
