How does unemployment work if you have two jobs?

Seemingly obvious question, but Oregon's unemployment site doesn't cover it.

My employer has decided to be stupid & move everyone to work weeks that are ~10% shorter. As much as I may not like being here, I need that income (plus more, but that's another story).

If I were to get another job, & then get laid off at my primary job (which pays far more than any part time job I'll find), would I then be ineligible for unemployment?

Pretty much...it depends on how much you make vs how much unemployment you get. In other words, you might get a partial check...Although, since you would never be "unemployed" you may nort qualify at all.

I'm guessing you wouldn't qualify since you wouldn't be unemployed.

Here in Tennessee its based on what you earn. If you have two jobs and lose one I thnk you can still collect unemployment. But youwill get $255 a week minus what you earn at the second job. Lets say you make $6 an hour and earn $240. You will get diddly for unemployement compensation. Basically you could have stayed home and earned $255 on unemployment. So the system sucks and actually encourages you to stay home.

And people wonder why there are so many immigrant workers at the fast food counters and check out stands.......
That statement is only true if you're willing to settle on the lowest level of existance.
That'll impress the chicks!

pretty much what rudder said,

i dont know how it works in Oregon per se but in CA for every dollar you earn a certain percentage is taken off from your benefit amount. so if you had two jobs and got laid off from one of them you would qualify for $370/wk (if you met the amazingly low standard to get the maximum benefit) but if you made $200/wk from your 2nd job then your benefit would prolly be reduced to $250/wk or so.

In NV yoiu have 75% reduced for part-time work dollar earned.

This is to account for the equivalent tax burden.

Bah, that's retarded.

I'd almost be better off quitting the part time job, odds are I'd make more off of unemployment than I would from my part time job.

I'll be willing to bet the UI benefit would be less than that. Let's not forget that, in CA., payments to you from Unemployment Insurance are TAXABLE! That's right! You receive the option to have that money withheld when you get your claim form.

Good chance that your part-time job has been reported to the emplyment system.
Quiting that could then create a time penalty before you could collect benifits.
