I'm thinkin of getting a 24" LCD to replace my 22" TV and 22" CRT in my room. I'm thinking either the BenQ or Dell.

How does digital cable, dvd via computer, xbox360 look on these 2 24" lcds? Breakdown of your experience with each media? Screenshots?

No one has anything to say about non-computer inputs on these monitors? It seems so many people talk about them and tell others to get them.... but not one person has personal experience to share? :(

Progressive scanning standalone dvd player hooked via component to my Dell 24" actually looks better than using a software dvd player on the computer. PS2 hooked up with the component cable looks good. I don't own a xbox360 so I can't say how it looks. Don't have cable tv either so I can't comment on that.

Thank you for that. My biggest worry is that over inputs not running at the native resolutions will not look very good.

I want to play gears of war and if its going to look fuzzy i would rather not buy the monitor. But if running at a non-native resolution is only a problem for PC connections/games to an LCD monitor and not for other input devices, i'd like to pick up one of these monitors soon.

Anyone care to share on that particular aspect? B/c i'm confused about running non ntive resolutions and then effect on picture quality

I used to play my XBOX 360 on a little bit smaller of a LCD and I never had a problem; however, there's such a big difference between using a small LCD and a large HDTV. I wouldn't use an LCD with an XBOX 360 unless you really enjoy sitting close to them. When I used to switch between my PC and X360, it wasn't bad because I sat close (in my computer chair), but when I gave it its own dedicated LCD and tried to sit back a bit... it killed the experience completely.

New update, I know for sure SC4 can render natively at 1080p. Well, at least I heard it from a few sources.

Link to proof on 1080p?

Any other reviews?

I just got a dell 2407 today and second thing I did after looking for dead pixels and banding issues was hook up the 360 and play a few minutes of Gears. This is the only short comiing of the monitor. Picture was slightly grainy, maybe a side affect to running at 1080I instead of 1080P. I'm just afraid to do the fall update cause I heard of many a bricking issues, especially on refurbs (I'm already on my 2nd). With that said, With the latest revision (A03) I have no noticible banding or dead pixels on this VERY SEXY monitor. OH yeah I did refer to computer hardware as being sexy. I'll be right back I gotta go rub one out, lol. Hope this helps

Thanks for the heads up! Gears is one of the biggest reasons i wanna hook my 360 up to a 24"er. I lost my left arm in a streetbike accindent and I hate moving my 22" crt around, so i thought i'd pick up a bigass LCD. The grainy image worries me a little, but not terribly.

It'd also be nice to have a commanding view when playing my Supreme Commander beta! :)

Thanks for your opinion! Would appreciate more! :)

I too road my Ninja 636 into a tree last year and ended up breaking my back but all is well and the ninja is even more bad @ss than the day it left the show room. lots and lots of custom work. Not to benosey but how do you game with one arm? Props to you and keep on gaming

I came down from a 100mph wheelie in a turn and due to brand new tires not being sticky, i went into a instant tank slapper. I slid into a gaurd rail at about 65mph impact speed. Compound fracture of my femur and severed all the nerves to my left arm, rendering it useless from the shoulder down.

For gaming, i usually play PC and configure my mx510 to control as much as possible for halo, bf2, etc. I use the x360 controller with my right hand and my chin for fps games. For PGR3 i lay the controller down and use pointer finger and ring finger to control the sticks for gas/brake and left/right.

It's a huuuuge pain in the a$$, but i'm a gamer... i do what i can.

Man I'm really sorry to hear that but I'm glad you can still enjoy games despite your loss, hmm, maybe a Nintendo Wii is right up your alley? (Some games are wiimote controlled exclusively).

As for the original question, I think you will have 60 pixels worth of black lines at the top and bottom when playing at 1080p/i, at 720p you will have black lines but it will still look good, you will not get a vertical stretch, at least I don't think so.
