How does Turion perform in Dothan's weak spots?

which shows the Turion of equal speed beating the Dothan both on their native platforms..What is the problem??? We all know the Dothan shines when yhou put it on a desktop that doesn't constrict it which slower bus and thus lower bandwidth.....He is talking laptops and your ego was hurt cause you know your Dothan rocks as the bastard-child on a modified desktop....refute what he is saying based on article showing similar speed Dothans and Turions on laptops....

Native platforms is nice wording, considering that the Sonoma chipsets are not very efficient, that is correct. So lets put them on fairly equal platforms (desktop) and see where the performance is. I expect a newer optimised chipset to beat an older chipset dont you?

I am not denying that, fact of the matter is, you need to look beyond 1 or 2 reviews at the big picture. It says something when you have companies listing the turion as having less battery life than Dothan. (ie. Compaq)

Thats like saying "oh, lets eliminate all of the problems with the Dothan chip and then test it, because that'll be fair." Thats just not how it works. Dothan, in a laptop, comes with the Sonoma chipset, adn there's nothing you can do to change that. We're comparing Dothan as a platform vs Turion as a platform, the just the performance of the chips in completely optimal situations (which aren't possible on a laptop because otherwise you'd have a laptop with a 10 minute battery life).

Until the Dothan actually begins to use "newer optimised chipset" in laptops, you can't compare it using one.

That is idiotic...they are mobile solutions...Quit trying to move them to a platform cause you dont like how they do...This is not about architecture it is about the chips as normal PC users will buy them. I find nothing he said based on the only article I can find comparing these equal speed chips as being false....sorry you are bent out of shape on this.....

Also dont you think the AMD system is a bit neutured as well??? It is runnning single channel memory controller, 1/4 of the cache, DDR333, cas 2.5 (which is appaling considering you can buy budget ram at cas2 at 400ddr), etc..

Celeron M<turion< Pentium M IMO.. Typical confugurations using the Turion will be battery life light, because those configurations were meant to be cheap alternatives to the Pentium M. Ob viously, there might be some instances where a Turion laptop will beat a Pentium M laptop in battery life, but generally, the Pentuim M configurations will win because people design Pentium M notebooks to maximize battery life.

I agree I still think the batteery life on most all of the laptops you will buy will favor the P-M, but in this case of this article (linked byover 2 dozen sites and the first 2 pages of any google search) the Turion clock for clock in a laptop setting (go figure its intended use) is better.....


Also let us not forget that while the Dothan has shiortcoming in certain areas the Turion actually is a solid all around performer. Even a Dothan in a desktop platform now is agreed upon by many Intel owners to have serious weaknesses....hence why Intel is revamping it for Desktop use....


I dont see fanboy here, I see INtel users bent out of shape that the last area they lead in is starting to narrow up...

Dont like that article, find another to refute it...Dont like that article, tell me what they did wrong. I have yet to see a review that they went so far out of the way to make it a level testing field....

Instead you guys want to take an enthusiast spin on it and buy an adapter (that has issues from all accounts) place it on a narrow line of boards, use bioses that have some issues (on acounts I have read), and run it out of its native intentions...That is fine but the test was testing prebuilt laptop platforms...Contrary to you guys and your flawed logic the Turion and dothan are low voltage mobile chips and most dont custom build laptops....
