How does this make sense?

A white guy applies to college, 3.9 HS GPA, 1450 on the SAT, great interview/essay etc.

A (fill in the blank with a different minority race) applies to college, 3.3 HS GPA, 1250 on the SAT, ok interview.

The white guy doesnt get in, the minority does.

How is that fair exactly? I know some schools have to maintain a certain ratio of white to minority, but it just doesnt make sense to me. That in my opinion is being racist against the majority, whites. You DO have a higher GPA John, and are definitely more qualified to get in, but because we have to keep a ratio of other races, Aaron gets in, who has a somewhat lower GPA.

at my work they actually pass out a memo to everyone in the building saying how many apples and oranges and pears (subsitute fruit with races) we have and in what kinds of positions like management and stuff......its really sickening if u think about it

YALTARISAT

Yet another lets talk about racism in school administration thread.

I agree, its stupid.

But hey, we all know your admission is really based on the wejui board test and the rolling of the 48 sided dice combined with the alignment of the planets.

Oh well. Just find a better school that doesn't do that. Within the next generation of those minorities that get into school, at least their kids will be better off and when they apply for school, their GPA and SATs will be at the same level as everyone else, and they can finally drop the selection by race.

yeah sorry if this has been beaten into the ground. What government official put laws like this into place?

Would you feel better if they used income level or whether or not your parents went to college, or other such factors when making admission decisions? Or do you feel numbers alone should be the sole basis for college admission?

Numbers alone should not be valid reasons for admitting someone into your college, IMO.

One that doesn't realize that affirmitive action is a form of racism. Racist people alter their treatment of you based on your skin color. This law alters the schools treatment of you, based on your skin color. It all equals the same thing.

Just think of the chaos that would happen if the roles were reversed and minorties lost points for being a minority.
There would be the cries of hypocracy of "that is racist" people would get fired and so on and so on. Funny how role reversal can show what is racist or isn't racist

:Q OMG...I didn't...NOOOOOO...I used common sense. You can't use common sense when dealing with race driven rational (Everyone knows this but if someone says it they are called a racist :|)

REVERSE RACISM IS RACISM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Since i am a member of the VAST RIGHT WING CONSPIRACY here is my conspiracy proposal for this issue:

The "leaders" of the minorities get together in a hydrogen-boom-proof bunker 200 miles underground and discuss ways of keeping their jobs. They concluded that the only way to keep their jobs is if racism and prejudice are still present. So they diabolically came up with their plan. And it was to breed new generations of white people that have a reason to hate minorities. Next they needed a way to figure out how to do this. Finally they concluded that one way to cause white people to hate minorities is to punish white people by making them work much harder and have much higher scores than the minorites to be "qualify" for the same job or position. Hence by affirmitive action the minorty "leader's" found a way to breed many new generations of white people with a chip on their shoulder with minorities; thereby, keeping their jobs as fighters of racism and prejudice.

The thing is, am i joking or am i serious?
