im slapin together a parts bin special as a xmas gift for my coworker
I just feel bad he using a old p4 like 1.8ghz pc
the most intense thing he does on a computer is farm ville lol

so how is this build
celeron 430 (might be bumped up to a e2140 if I can get it in time)
p4m800
2x1gb 533 ddr2
320 gb hd
ttgi 260w psu
vista basic

since the onboard p4m800 is kinda crappy (via s3 chrome)
I need some help on the vcard choice since the p4m800 only takes agp
my choice is either a 6200 256mb or 6600 128 mb (both agp)

would you use the vcard that has more ram or better performer
and also if I use the 6600 would I be kinda pushing the 260watt psu?

Thanks in advance

I'd say, not enough RAM for Vista.

A Pentium III is probably enough for Farmville.

You got one week left. You sure you wanna spend that time building an old machine?

:( 2 gb is max for that mb (2x1gb)

he has a pentium 4 1.8 and im pretty sure a celeron 430 (1.8ghz) is alot faster than what he has

I do have a xp home that I could pop on but I enjoy vista and it seems more secure than xp

For about $10 more, I'd go for a Celeron 3200 instead to get VT if the mobo supports it.

When using inexpensive CPU the one to get is E3200.

It is the one that does VT among the cheapos.

You need VT if at any point One wants to use Virtualization.
