Samsung 400MHz 512MB PC3200 DDR DIMM $49.98 $49.98
AMD Athlon 64 2800+ 1.8GHz 512KB L2 Cache Newcastle Skt 754 $151.98 $151.98
AsRock K8 Combo-Z Motherboard Skt 754 and 939 $99.98 $99.98
Sapphire ATI Radeon 9800 Pro Atlantis 128MB AGP8X 256-bit $219.98 $219.98
iCute 350W Power Supply 20/24-pin ATX 2.0 Power Supply $26.98 $26.98

Subtotal: $548.90
Total: $625.75

I figure I can always upgrade later AND AGP slots will last for a while anyways. Plus I can always upgrade to socket 939. AsRock is a subsidiary of Asus so I'm confident with it's reliability.

OR should I get this?

Samsung 400MHz 512MB PC3200 DDR DIMM $49.98 $49.98
AMD Athlon 64 3000+ 1.8GHz 512K L2 Cache Winchester Core Skt 939 $179.98 $179.98
MSI K8N Neo4-F Motherboard nForce4 Chipset PCI-Express x16 SATA RAID GLAN $114.98 $114.98
MSI NX6600-TD128MB TVO DVI PCI-Express $159.98 $159.98
iCute 350W Power Supply 20/24-pin ATX 2.0 Power Supply $26.98 $26.98

Subtotal: $531.90
Total : 606.37

You could get an AGP 6600GT for about the same price or less, and it's a bit quicker too.

Sounds pretty good although I would definitely recommend buying a name brand power supply (Antec, Enermax, etc). Those cheap ones like to give out on you at the worst moments.

i've never heard of AsRock, and am a little skeptical of a combo socket mobo that is cheaper than the s939s by themselves... you definetly dont want to skimp out on the PSU though..

http://forums.extremeoverclocking.com/showthread.php?t=152446

the site you listed doesn't have a very good selection.. this thread ^^ has a bunch of canadian retailers.. you want a 350W+ PSU with at least 24A on the 12V rail by a reputable company (stable rails)

if your budget wont allow a better PSU that what you have listed.. i recommend getting a 9550 and softmodding it to 9600pro..

after some light googling fo the icute psu i was unable to find any specs at all really... you're generally going to spend at least $50 (usd) for a decent PSU

I checked out the site your planning to buy from and came up with these suggestions:

MSI RS480M2-IL Athlon 64 Motherboard Skt 939 $119.98

AMD Athlon 64 3000+ 1.8GHz 512K L2 Cache Winchester Core Skt 939 $179.98

Samsung 400MHz 512MB PC3200 DDR Dual-Channel $53.96

Antec Sonata Mid Tower Black 380W PSU $116.98

Total: $470.90

You could probly use the integrated video for now and upgrade to pci-e video card later. No need to hunt down a cheap Antec 350W, because the power supply in the Sonata case is made by Antec also, and better than their 350W unit.

I checked out the benchmarks for the integrated video on that mobo and it was okay for gaming but it wasn't that great. It was slower then the 64-bit X300SE....which is alot to say. Well I'll give your opinion some thought. Thanks for posting!

Good luck with your build......Let us know what you decide and how the build went. It's always nice to leave a follow-up post. :)
