How does this build look?

I bought my current Abit Fata1ity and AMD Athlon X2 4400 around 2 (possibly 3) years ago and it's starting to become (due to none support of AM2 and DDR2) both pointless and more expensive to upgrade the parts that need it, and it's only going to get worse,So...

I've bitten the bullet and started saving for new parts (will take around 4 weeks to save) and here's what I've come up with but feel I need some support/TLC and downright tech support before I spend the cash :)

Asus P5KC http://www.overclockers.co.uk/...t.php?prodid=MB-243-AS]

Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 LGA775 'Wolfdale' 3.00GHz (1333FSB) - Retail [http://www.overclockers.co.uk/...t.php?prodid=CP-192-IN]

2 x OcUK 2GB (2x1GB) DDR2 PC2-8500C5 1066MHz Dual Channel Kit (4GB total)[http://www.overclockers.co.uk/...t.php?prodid=MY-013-OK]

Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio 7.1 Sound Card - OEM (PCI-Express) [http://www.overclockers.co.uk/...t.php?prodid=MY-123-CS]

Corsair Memory Cooler (Dominator Fan) [http://www.overclockers.co.uk/...t.php?prodid=MY-123-CS]

This lot will fit into my trusty Coolermaster Praetorian alongside a BFG 8800 GTS OC 320MB gfx card,3 x 250GB SATA drives and an Ennermax Liberty 500W modular PSU.

Not sure but I hope,I may get away with my trusty old PSU as it was a VERY well regarded one when I bought it.Not sure about OC'ing as it seems like rocket science to me if I don't have a step-by-step guide for idiots in front of me :D

It's gonna be my games rig/sole-one-and-only PC ,I'll be spending no more than £400 and I'm in the UK.

Anyone have experience of a similair setup ?Any suggestions? Anything relevant?

PS: Anyone able to tell me why the E6850 is MORE expensive than the E8400 even though the E8400 has more L2 Cache? Am I missing something obvious and should I go with the more expensive one (and if so,why).

No idea. E6850 has always been a bad buy in terms of price/performance.

I am not really familiar with that RAM (pretty much any RAM will do these days, preferably rated to run at 1.8V) but CPU and mobo look solid

e8400 > e6850, so don't worry about it. If you're not overclocking, go with 2x2gb of ddr2 800mhz instead, ddr2 1066mhz will be a waste if you're not overclocking. Mobo, looks okay, but why do you need the ddr3 slots, prolly could get awat with something cheaper, like a ds3l, which will offer the same performance for less money. Soundcard isn't really needed although you have a good set of speakers. No need for a ram cooler either.
