I just wikied American Beauty after watching it, and a quote:

"The brief topless scene of Thora Birch was shot in the presence of her parents and child labor representatives, since she was barely seventeen at that time."

This confused me as to how the legal system of the industry really works.

Can some one clue me in??

She's underage. But they can film underage children nude if they have parental permission and it is for "artistic" reasons.

I'm not a propenent of pedo porn, but it is a double standard that Hollywood fought for and won (by spending lots of money)

Hmm.. that seems odd to me, not impossible in this day and age, but very odd.

Also,, i Don't see why the military dude plugged the DAD. WHY did he do that. I read on wiki that it was because Dad rejected him, but i don't see the reason for the gun shot.????????????????????????
