okay, my burner from newegg is dying, details here, liteon. i brought this 8months ago and was oem. i logged into newegg and i only see a option to RMA repair? does this mean my drive is out of warrenty and they will only try to fix it, but not actually replace? i never done a rma before, and this whole process confuses me. are they going to mail me a box so that i can mail it to them? i live right next to them, can i drop it off? if i mail myself, how much is shipping? i wonder becuase if they going to just repiar it and cost me shipping, i might just spend 50buck for a brand new drive.

edit, i just tried to rma it on newegg, i went to step 3 of 4, and then it said that they couldnt find the product etc... it appears that they no longer offer my drive, liteon 24x. so looks like they cant replace my drive? i cant seem to reach step 4 in neweggs rma service.

why not go over there in person, give them a call, or shoot them an email. i'm sure even though they don't carry the drive, as long as it's under warrenty, they should help you out with it. :)

yea, i probably call them up tomorrow. i am not at home and kinda busy right now. i just wanna know my options. dont really want to waste my time in paying for shipment back to them only to get it fixed. in that case i rather just order another one, would probably be faster too than waitin for them to send a fix or replacement. but i highly doubt they can fix it since its the laser lense. any1 know what they going to do to "help" me?

With Lite-On products, you are supposed to get service through the dealer. If you have problems doing that, you can email LiteOn directly but they will charge you an RMA fee and it usually takes forever.
