My good friend's parents (she is 16, not like shes a lttle kid) put cyberpatrol on her computer bc they claimed she shouldnt be on aim and stuff during the week. This is really annoying, and I was wondering how this program monitors what she does....like can I go into msconfig and make it not load up? something in the registry? or maybe a more temporary solution? thanks

niwi7,

Your "good friend" is a minor. Her parents have every right to restrict her Internet access, and they are legally liable for any trouble she may cause. Please do not ask for ways to get around their legal authority.

Tell your friend to respect her parents and deal with it until she's on her own.

Until she's living in her own house, paying her own bills, and using her own computer, then they have every right to be worried about what she's doing on the computer and monitor it.

I agree .. if it isnt HER computer, than she should respect her parents. If it is HER computer, and she paid for it, then she could use knoppix or any other live-cd

Actually, they need far more. My 9 year old son never gets in any trouble. My 15 year old brother is finishing up a 6 week wilderness drug treatment program after it was discovered that he was THE drug dealer for the entire high school.

She is trying to circumvent protections her legal guardians have put in place. It's not a good thing to do, and generally not an acceptable topic for Anandtech forums.

Use google.
