How does the computer boot?

I have some problem with booting from the floppy disk(after I installed Nvidia driver on Epox 8K7A+). I have just found at least two other people have the same problem. Now I am very interested to find where the problem comes from. Could anyone give me some knowledge on how the system boot from the floppy disk and hard drive? What are the steps the computer does and how? Thanks a lot!

For the most common boot sequence (C:, A🙂 the computer looks at the hard drive for the master boot sector -- if that isn't present, it looks for that on the floppy. Then it tries to execute command.com on the floppy.
If neither is present, there's an error.

At least that's what I think.

Thank you for the reply. If theres is a disk I/O error or 'can not load system file' error reported when booting from the floppy disk, is the problem from BIOS or motherboard?
