how does the Chrome orb compares to the Taisol 733?

The fact is, it doesn't. Tillman relies on an under-socket htermistor as dead on accurate, when it isn't.

I bought a c-orb last night, and tested it on a p3 compared to a taisol cek733. NOt only could the c-orb not keep my cpu o/c as high as the taisol unit, but it performed significantly worse.

My Further results

My results ended up beign the taisol running at .48C/W, keeping my p3 14C over ambient.

THe c-orb was about .63C/w, keeping my p3 19C over ambient.

If you were to interpolate those into the Anandtech(crap test) "comparison", then you would get a c-orb running his chip(which wasn't really even fully loaded, it was only like 90% loaded), running in the range of 59C, not this bullcrap 47C reading he gets.

I have the Chrome Orb on two computers, both Abit KT7's. Yes, the Chrome Orb does fit and does work. Granted, it is a tight squeeze and you will be have to VERY carefully nudge some capicitors outta the way, but it fits and works. I have even taken it on and off (had a loony idea of soldering the L1 bridges...not wise...).
As for the cooling capabilities, I am very happy. It might not be the absolute best out there, but I can run my 700 TBird at 850 without a problem. I also o/c'd an 800 to 880 which is 30 more than I could get with a cooloermaster rig.
I have multiple web windows open, mail and have been working in Frontpage all morening, my cpu is at 33c, M/B is at 26c. Works for me! I do have additional fans in the case, including a blowhole.
You have to look at what you are planning on doing, what your room temperature normally is and how much you want to spend. I enjoyed Anands article on cooling and found it useful. I also have found that this $17 orb does everything I want, need and desire.
Cheers
Greg

The chrome orb may do everything you need or want(in this case, 800+mhz worth of o/c), but it is not that close, performance wise, to a pal6035. The review is a farce when comparing heatsinks to each other, because it usesly a totally inaccurate platform to compare them.
