How does the Cadillac CTS compare to The G35, Altima, Maxima?

I know they are not all the same range I suppose, but they are all sedans I like and I have just lately started noticing the CTS. My neighbor has one and I really like it.

I would consider it the best of the group mentioned. The new v6 is said to feel more like the northstar v8.

I ended up buying a CTS after test driving it and the G35 back to back. A lot of it was just about feel. From the moment I sat down in the G35 I felt more confined. The drive was nice, I just didn't like the feel of the vehicle, and the Infiniti sales guy was a complete ass (this didn't help).

Many of them are asses. They think that they are something special because they work for a "luxury" (or semi-luxury) car dealership. I've had a few piss poor e-mails between myself and the Lexus dealership and the guy acted like I was a complete dumbass (while that may or may not be true, it wasn't up to him to act that way! :p ).

It's dealership to dealership, in my hometown, the MB dealership were just filled with complete a-holes while Lexus and Infiniti and to a lesser extent the Caddy and Audi dealerships were pretty helpful.

Like it or not, there is a certain cachet to driving a luxury brand, so it's hard for me to consider buying a Nissan that ventures into Infiniti or Cadillac pricing. Another subjective factor for me is 'uniqueness,' and in that regard, Altimas and Maximas are more common. The new CTS has been getting rave reviews (e.g. Car & Driver), if you want to blow $$ on a new car.

The old ones...meh.

The new one that just came out and has just started to show up at dealerships...AWESOME. The interior is gorgeous, the exterior is very good looking, and even the engine choices are decent. The "entertainment center" is at the top of its class and there is plenty of room inside.

I haven't driven one yet...but it has gotten very good reviews. I'm excited about test driving one.

before GM $5,000 rebates it's much pricier than the nissans (even after rebates it might only match the G35 in price). it's probably more reliable than the nissans. it's slower than the G35. it's bigger than the G35, and probably bigger than the maxima.

and the G35 comes with the 300 hp engine, where as on the CTS it's an option.

and the altima is much less expensive.

the G also gets another 10K miles on the warranty coverage

According to C&D, the CTS base engine is so good that the larger motor is superfluous.

I would love one of thems.

If only you could find the V for the same price as a G35, then it would be a no brainer. While I like the VQ just as much as the next person, there is no debate that the LS2 and LS6 are superior for power.

Well, it's uglier.

I'd say that the Altima and the Maxima aren't in the same league as the G35, which is the car I'd pick out of the four you listed.

My wife and I had the best experience at the Lexus dealer when we bought our IS.

Which IS did you get, 250 or 350? I'm looking at the IS model myself.

I have an 03 CTS. Ive had an Audi A4 so I can compare it to that which is I enjoy my caddy much more. I have been in/drove those cars and I don't even think its competition. Are you going 08 cause if you are oh man that car(CTS) gives me the jitters

2006 and under CTS-V's for 35k or less

Well that settles that. I know I prefer the styling of the G35 coupe to the CTS-V, but I also realize that cars are for driving, and the V has the G35 beaten in spades.

There truly is no logical reason to get a car that has an inferior drivetrain, for more money, with reliability being about equal.
