How does the brakes get locked up?

How does it get locked up and what can you do to prevent it?

Uhh, yeah!

I wasn't very sure what got locked up, had a feeling it was the brakes, but just said car as a general term

push the little button on the fob marked "LOCK", click it all locks up.

I usually use my key. Or the button on the key for the keyless locking. Is there another way?

Well, you may need to slam on the brakes in an emergency (someone short stopping in front of you for instance). Just remember at full break line pressure, your brakes will lock up, while the person in front of you won't because there brakes are pulsing because of ABS. If you need to make a short stop, do what he said and pump the brakes very rapidly. That is what ABS essentially does.

it's not ONLY about how hard you step on the brakes, it's also about how much traction is available.

Yeah, but if he is moving along nicely (say 30-40 mph) and it is dry, and he fully activates the brakes, he will still lose traction if he just holds the brakes in.

I personally am not a huge fan of ABS. It's ub0r cold/snowy where I am right now, whenever I start sliding, it starts pulsing/pumping and it freaks me out, I want to push down even hard 😱
