I haven't played the GC version of Super Smash Brothers, so i can't really commment on that, but is there a big difference in gameplay between the GC and N64 version? If not, how do you think it compares to Powerstone 2 on the DC? I've played SSB on the N64, and it didn't seem to be all that great, and i was playing with another friend as well, so multiplayer was there. But the first time i loaded up Powerstone 2, well, it was awesome, the truly interactive levels/weaponry were sooo fun. From a gameplay standpoint (i don't care about the graphics and whatnot), how does SSB compare to Pstone 2?

I'm hoping those who have played both will comment.

I liked powerstone II, and I didnt like smash brothers on the n64, but that may have been because I was a bit woozy on something people like to call alchohol...

The GC version of SSB is the same as N64, except with better graphics and more characters. Wow some of those graphics are l33t, but if you didn't like SSB for 64, you won't like it for GC. I like both powerstone and SSB, but I like SSB more :)

I get tired of the Smash Bros. games, but Power Stone 2 I could play for hours on end. :)

They are both good games. PowerStone is a lil' more complex in gameplay and Smash Brothers I find is more grab some friends an go. It just depends on my mood.

I don't see how. I could win at PowerStone 2 just by collecting the gems over and over. Game over for anyone but an expert. And if that fails, just go for the millions of items on-screen. But Smash you can do fairly complex 2D fighting. The N64 version more than the GC, though, I'm not too big a fan of the GC one, but then again I was hoping for a Smash Bros. with upped graphics and more single player options.

EDIT: agreed, they are both good games

Powerstone is a 3d game. Has about 8 stages as 12 chars (Correct me if I'm wrong) The object is to kill your opponent by killing all his HP. Theres that cheesy gem system that totally robs the game of any skill.

SSB is a 2d game (with 3d gfx of course). About 25 stages and chars. You dont win by draining all the HP, but by knocking out of the stage. You cant use the environment, but theres tons of items, and none of that cheap gem sh*t.

I'll take SSB any day. Although PS2 WAS damn fun. SSB has better gfx, and far more replay value, and well, its just more fun.

i think the games are completely different. sure, they're both cartoony and four player, but really, they are completely different.

PS2 is a 3d game, which adds another dimension. SSB is a GREAT game which I've loved since N64. I've put countless hours into the game, and its easily one of my top 10 games of all time. the replay value is just great. on the other hand, i've gotten tired of powerstone. SSB takes a lot more skill, whereas powerstone can seem extremely chaotic.

As for the single player mode, SSB is by far a better game. The options apart from multiplayer are enough to make it a separate game. I seriously bought GC JUST so I could have SSB Melee.
