Go to bed 30 min earlier.
Set a light on a timer to come on around 5:15. If you have X10, have it fade up to 100% over the 15 minute span to simulate a sunrise.

I find it much easier to wake up when there is a light on.

Just keep doing it.

It takes about 6 weeks for your body to get used to a new regime.

Set your alarm clock to be 1/2 hour fast....so when you see 6, it's really 5:30...it's a wonder how your mind can really play tricks with you...

Yup, just do it for a while and pretty soon you won't even need an alarm clock. Sucks for weekends when you want to sleep in though. :)

I get up at 5:30 every morning. It's conditioning to get used to this time. It took me about two weeks to finally get to the point I don't even need an alarm clock unless I'm on medication.

It drives my wife nuts, she like to sleep to 7:30-8:00. ;)

5:30 is super early?

I normally get up before 4 AM.

This week I've had the luxury of sleeping until 4:45.

God I feel like I could just collapse. The thing is I'm getting screwd over big time at work. This sucks so bad. I have to start en extra half hour while the rest of my classmates are starting either an hour or two hours later. I'm going to speak up again today. This is actually BS scheduling on my sup's part. She gave me not even a days notice that I'd have to come in extra early today. BS!~

5:30 is my normal wake up time to get to work by 7am. Sometimes they ask me to come in at 6:30, and yes, it's difficult for me to drag my ass out of bed 30 minutes early. probably because I stay up til the same time.

Are those light fading things any good? Where can I get one?

I get up around 4:50. Don't need to even set the alarm (but I do anyway) It is just ingrained in me know, once you get a pattern setup it usually works pretty well.

Set your alarm to the really annoying buzzer sound to scare the crap out of you into waking up. If I ever have to get up earlier than normal, I do that and it works every time.

I'm a college undergrad and I wake up every morning before 6. The key for me was getting a bell alarm clock... timex from Kmart. Will wake the devil. Its also nice to look forward to some things- I'm out the door by 10 of 7 to go to a 7:00, 50 minute long brunch 5 days a week. Then I go to work or class at 8. None of my days ever end before 5:00 and some go as late as 10:00, so I almost never stay up past 1am from exhaustion. Just push your body harder... It's awfully hard to break without serious drugs!

Yes, especially on Saturday and Sunday morning when you want to sleep in.

unless your kid gets up at 9am :)

just keep getting up at the same time everyday and eventually your body will adjust. it helps if you do this on weekends too but that is the suck. at least on saturday and sunday you can take an afternoon nap(unless you're working that day too).

I too want to get up earlier, right now its too much of a fight to get up when I do and thats at 7:00 or so. I used to do it while in school and morning showers really helped for that first hour or so then I would just kinda drop for a few hours though and after school I'd take naps. I still sleep in on the weekends so thats probably the reason it is hard for me to adjust. Maybe next week I'll try it, the only problem is I dont want to go to bed any earlier than I already do :( .

I hear caffeine can really help too.

I wake up at 5:40am everyday. It's not that hard, just goto sleep earlier than most people and you'll be fine. Now, when you wake up at 8am on weekends, you feel like crap!!!! hahahaha.

What Garet Jax said.

I make it a point to get up when its just getting light outside, which works for most of the year. I usually set an alarm clock (on weekdays) but rarely hear it go off. My weekend rising time is pretty much the same thing.

Early mornings are your friend. Noone else is up-its the best time of the day.

Agreed. This worked for me, also.
