So as long as the original owner never send it in for repair, it is all good?
in my case yeah so I'd say it wouldn't be any different for you. We all know MS messed up and they know they did on the RROD defect so I think thats why they aren't strict on needing receipts and such. I got a used Xbox it RROD'ed they RMA'ed it no problem.
Is Zephyr rrod rate really that bad?
Oh yes  reported failure rates of up to 30%
You're off by a revision.
The very first OMGMYHOUSEISONFIRE version was rumored to have a 30% failure rate.
The second version, Zephyr, was the configuration of the first Xbox 360 Elites. This is what I bought on launch day in April 2007. It's been flawless for me and was rumored to have a failure rate of less than 10%.
The third version, Falcon, showed up around the holiday season 2007 and further reduced the RROD chances to some stat that escapes me.
We're currently on the fourth version, the Jasper. The jury's still out, but as long as anecdotal evidence on forums is taken as gospel, it's doubtful we'll ever have a solid figure we can trust.
EDIT: It's DEAD!!!!! IT'S DEAD!! Good gravy, it died tonight.
RIP launch day 360 Elite... you were only 24,545 achievement points old.
EDIT X2: Because tonight's fatal occurrence is clearly related to your thread today, I now hate you, Xellos2099. Just sayin'.
