How does RMA/warranty work?

Say I bought my Asus x800xl in June, then I decide to sell it to someone, it has a 3 year warranty, but does that carry over to the next person ? Does Asus only need the card to know the time of purchase? does selling it to someone void the warranty? Will Asus need the original receipt of purchase?
