how does renting tv shows work on netflix?

yes, you get a dvd, just like you get a movie that is one dvd

if a season is 6 discs, you get one disc at a time

Yeah. And sometimes when the show has double-sided DVDs, they split each into two DVDs. This makes sense, because most TV shows have 3+ hours of content per side, so you'd end up hanging onto the DVD for longer than a movie. It also lets them rent it to two people at a time. Problem is, sometimes they do that and sometimes they don't. I was watching one miniseries that had 3 total sides on two discs, and I never got to see the second side of the first disc. Every time I rented disc one they'd send me side one of disc one. Every time I rented disc two they sent me disc two. Every time I rented disc three (a.k.a. disc two, side one), they sent me disc two. I couldn't get "disc" two (a.k.a. disc one side two). I gave up after 3 tries.

yeah...but that seems like something they should fix

I don't think so. I remember House coming in double sided discs. When you buy it at stores, it's single sided.. I liked getting 3 discs for House Season 1 and not 6 discs... made my renting process faster =)

I bought House Season 1+2. House Season 1 comes double sided and House Season 2 comes single sided.

North and South (the miniseries from the 80s).

I'm guessing it doesn't happen often. It actually may have just been a few stupid customers who got confused and put the discs in the wrong sleeves. As long as they stick to JUST single sided or JUST double sided discs it's fine.
