How does Raid 0 (striping) work when I Ghost an image?

JEDI

The ECS Mobo is capable of Raid 0. i have 2 160gig HD.

I'm using Ghost 2002.

When i ghost the image, will the mobo know to split it between the 2 HD? or do i need software? (ie: a version of ghost that's Raid aware?)

THX!

The Raid is looked upon as being one virtual disk basically, so ghosting an image to it will work fine.

so the hardware (ie: mobo) takes care of it regardless of what software i'm using (including Win98)? (havent bought the mobo yet)

I am thinking RAID 0 does not work properly through Norton Ghost 7.0 as I think I was told this a few months back but RAID 1 does work.

I am thinking it my work in the windows version of ghost IE not a bootable floppy version.

I could be wrong but look a Symantecs web site.

"Ghost is not compatible with computers that use RAID. That is, Symantec Ghost 8.x and earlier, and Norton Ghost 2003 and earlier, do not support RAID controllers on computers that are being imaged." 🙁

but norton's website doesnt say which version is compatible

I've noticed that I can ghost the images, but it takes forever. Last time I tried, it took like 10 hours to get 50% done. So I put in an IDE drive for it to write to, and it did just fine. So I've been ghosting my 2x160gb hds in RAID 0 to a 120gb IDE drive that is now removeable... The RAID 5 arrays should be fine, as I won't need to ghost them.
