How does pre-ranking work in the Yahoo fantasy leagues?

I'm signed up in a private hockey league and everyone is pre-ranking their teams, but I'm not even sure what it means

You set up a ranking in the order you want your players to be autodrafted if available, in the event you are not present at a live draft.
If there is no live draft, this works too
