Just put the cable from the wall into the VCR, and use the cable output (from the VCR) to go to the TV. Does that make sense or are you trying to find out something else?

my VCR has picture in picture support, but TV doesn't. What that means: I turn on my VCR and i can get PIP. I think a true PIP TV has a dual-tuner which doesn't require a VCR, but i'm probably mistaken.

There's two kinds of PIP.

On cheaper TV's, it relies on the tuner from your VCR to provide the signal for the second source.

On more expensive TV's, it has a second tuner that feeds the second picture.

It is different on all models. I have three ways to do it on my TV, two of the ways are already posted, but on mine, you can have picture in picture from one antenna with no cable box or VCR, just straight from the ground wire. they both are from teh same tuner, but one source.

Yea, the reason the TV wants your VCR connected is cuz it only has 1 tuner, so in order to utilize the PIP feature you need to use your VCR as a second tuner.

Why don't we get an option to put a show on half a screen? Is it expensive to do (my guess)? Like split the screen horizontally and have Headline news on the bottom and CNBC on the top? That way you could mute it and just watch the streaming stuff at the bottom of both shows. That'd be pretty handy.

They'd have to distort the images of both shows, or not use up the entire screen. They probably don't like to do that.
