How does Panasonic make such quality ear phones at the price point?

I purchased gas station ear phones that cost the same. But the Panasonic actually sounded good and the gas station headphones sucked ass.

It doesn't take much more effort or cost to make things not shitty. Panasonic probably does a better job cause they aren't a market leader, and people won't accept shit just cause their name's on it. I've been a fan of panasonic going back to the early 80s. They make good functional electronics that provide more value than the p[rice indicates. I'd take panasonic over sony every single time.

Panasonic is sold in dollar stores. They might be the supplier for the dollar store's budget brand. But I have no doubt they'd crush a Harbor Freight comparable.

Cheap speakers, some might excel in conveying particular aspsects of sound compared to other products, even outperforming 100 dollar products in that ONE aspect but lacking in everything else.

For example, "part clarity" is exceptionally good on a Thinkpad T430's speakers. In Mariah Carey's emotions, I can distinguish between her solo line, the background singers, the instruments VERY clearly, better than a Dell soundbar or the 100 dollar Audio Advisor headphones I have, I can even hear some reverb.

So if someone wants to study musical with many "parts", like orchestral, the qualities of a T430 can make it valuable for someone who can't go out and just buy a 300+ dollar set of headphones. (Originally, a Thinkpad is a premium product, but it was for business pros, not amateur music "students").

One of the things about low price items is what corners are cut. A cheap Delta power supply will still be functional and not deadly computers.

they have always been pretty reliable at making a good solid product while avoiding dipping too far into the entry level cost cutting versions.

their water resistant electric shavers have been dead reliable and ahead of the curve, despite never overcoming the brand name advantage of braun or norelco who took years to reach feature parity with the panasonics.
i bought panasonic dvd player back in the 90's after going thru the av tech nerd forums, they were always the ones using the best quality codec or processing chip.
their toughbook industrial laptops are what you get if you need something that wont break in the field.

sadly they seem to be abandoning certain product markets as the profitability shrinks. i needed to replace an over the range microwave oven/fanhood. after some research, panasonic was the last maker of quality microwave ovens with pwm switching psu (pana brand 'inverter'). on regular ovens changing the power level just pauses the radiation for some number of seconds, so it is just 100% power on/off cycling. the panasonic could actually reduce the energy to X%. unfortunately they stopped offering OTR units in the US several years ago.
they also may be abandoning the micro 4/3 sensor-lens digital camera market they created.

but if they make a product that i need, they are my first choice.

Their coin batteries are tanks. Toyota put 2032s in their key fobs. 17 years later, it was reading if 3.12 volts. Which basically meant it isn't even close to dead.

I bought a bunch of Br2032 and Cr2032s from Digi-key.
