How does one play the game Mafia? (Not the god damned CPU game)

People were playing it at my friends place last night and I dunno what Mafia is. Anyone care to explain the game to me?

Think about what Mafia is, then you are a player in it, that is the game. Escape the Mafia.
 
i played it a few months ago. the more people you have the better.

it will be best to just search for a tutorial online somewhere. there are various rules and you don't have to follow them all.
 
Ugh that game is stupid. I remember playing it back in the dorms and the retards would never follow the rules, give people preferential treatment, etc.
 
You first have to buy the CD-ROM and install it. Then it's a pretty standard GTA3-clone. You need a keyboard and a mouse.

This really should be in the Software forum.

basically there are two groups: those who are mafia, and those who aren't. usually the players don't know who is who. the goal is for each group to eliminate the other group.

it's complicated until you start playing it. it is best played in the dorms, but some people get so into it, they would not leave their rooms. it has since been officially "banned" (well we weren't allowed to OFFICIALLY play it) but people still do it.

haha what school is this? The version I've seen is one just played ina living room with people sitting around...not exactly how the versions are different.
