How does one overvolt a 7800GT?

Ok, i've got an XFI 7800GT with a NV silencer 5 rev 3 slapped on it, max temp is 56 degrees and i don't care if it's blown out in a year or so. As such i recon a .1v increase would be doable and shouldn't lead to instant GPU death.

It'll do 496/1150 happily although it can hit 510/1240 but it starts artifacting at much over the current settings. So, can i expect to get any more (stable) performance out of it with a little more Vcore and how exactly do i go about overvolting?

i've never heard of XFI.. are you sure its not XFX?

I went from 485/1140 stable to 510/1330 stable, but i run it at 500/1300 at the moment from a .1v bios-mod for gpu and up to 2.3v on the memory with the pencil mod.

I would strongly caution that the bios mod does not work for every card, but for my eVGA it worked. You can find more information at vr-zone.com. they have a forum especially for volt-modding. please read everything before you begin, as a mistake CAN result in a bad board. There is also vr-mod's (variable resisters) that involve soldering.

Just remember, and i can't stress this enough, that only do this if you don't mind having the chance at losing a card. Don't play the game if you can't afford it.

Ops, yeah XFX :D

*hits head against sharp pointy object*

vr-zone.com, gotcha. I know how it works on overclocking, if i kill this card i'll just have to go and buy a 1900XT, it's a hard life.
