How does one go about researching a mortgage company?

With so many mortgage companies out there, how does one do research on them to make sure they are not known for ripping people off or take advantage of them? I am located in the Bay Area, California. Right now, I am leaning towards going with my bank (Wells Fargo) however I cam wondering if I should also look into a mortgage company. Although my gut feeling is that I should, I don't want to go with a bad one. Is there an Anandtech.com or resellerratings.com type of website for mortgage companies? Thanks in advance.

just listen to what the emails jane doe and ella fitzpatrick send to you every day

if not i can forward a few to you about your preapproved low mortgage financing

oh yeah shes also got microsoft office and viagra too

Hah. Why didn't I think of that in the first place. Yeah, I get dozens of those. Maybe I should actually read them 😱

DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT use LendingTree.com
search for a history of my posts... I lost a 100+ acre farm because of the fvcktards I had to choose from who didn't have a clue what they were doing (didn't find that out until it was too late.)

Lendingtree is just a company that gathers many mortgage banks to bid on a loan for you. So i guess you went with a bad bank and they Fu@ked U.
