how does one go about getting a credit report.

i saw some site, www.freecreditreport.com, anyone know if it's legit, or if its some crappy site that'll keep sending you spam?

he lives in Maryland, which by law gives one free credit report each year. The site says that it won't have credit reports for Maryland until Sept. 1.... anyone know a site that'll provide me with a free credit report right away...?

There aren't any "free" instant reports.
If Maryland allows on report per year call each of the bureaus and request your report (automated) and you will get it in the mail.

For instant you pay or sign up for a monitoring trial (which can be cancelled)

if you have reason to believe that there is fraudulent data on your report, you can get a free credit report from the agencies. just call them.
