What qualification and degree is required to work the HR dept? I want to do that, just because I would like to interview people, reject them, put them down, ask them hard questions and inflict pain upon them.

Get demoted from your current position.

Honestly I don't know what degree fits that best. I suppose just a general business management undergrad degree would be the best fit.

You also have to be a hot woman. 90% of the HR people ive known over the years were hot women. HR seems to be a field for the pretty people.

I need to live where you live then. Most of the HR people I've met HAVE been women, but most of them have been 55+ year old bitter women. Not to generalize or anything. :D Sales and marketing tend to be the professional positions that have the most attractive women in my experience.

you need a psychology degree and take some HR related business school classes. Then its just luck of the draw.

There are degrees in HR.

Like others have said you need to be well grounded in psychology and also employee/employer related law.

Usually they are the last to go. They have to do all the paperwork and the firing.

It depends on what area of HR you want to get into - some require some background in law, some in psychology, some you need ADP/payroll processing knowledge, etc. It really depends.

I've been trying to get into HR since January and I've had 2 interviews but no luck. (First interview I just bombed, second was a behavioral interview - I guess it's kind of ironic that a week after I found out I didn't get the position for the 2nd interview that they declared bankruptcy) I'm just a Business Administration major since my school doesn't have a specific HR degree. I don't intend on giving up but I'm also branching out and trying to see if I can get into marketing, which is my intended area to get a Master's in possibly.
