How does one do a Clean driver install of Detonators in win2k?

i'm familiar with doing this in win98, but i'm still not sure how to do a clean install of win2k. anybody have a tutorial or site that can help me out? i recently installed the 12.90 dets on my rig, and opengl games look as if they're in 16bit color. i know it's 32 bit colors, but it looks kinda, umm, dithered. i'm not sure how to explain it. it just doesn't look "clean."

I am just about to try Asus 12.60 for Win2K (currently nVidia 6.31) and was wondering whether to do a "simple" install by going to Display Properties/Settings/Advanced/Adapter/Properties/Driver/Update Driver and pointingto the Asus *.inf file.

Or should I uninstall the nVidia drivers first and swithc to a standard VGA adapter and reboot (as I do when switching WIN98 drivers).

What's the best way to do this in WIN2K?

boot up into safe mode, go to hardware profile or system properties.. delete the drivers for your graphics card... or go to c:\windows\inf and find out what *.inf files the card is using and delete it
