How Does One Create A LMHOST ID???

I'm unfamiliar with what an LMHost ID is but I need it for each of the engineering servers here at work that hold our CAD/CAM data...

Is there a windows util that's used to generat this or is it just a command etc...

And what is the file... a 10GB monster, or a few lines of text?

I've asked IT for the data and it appears to be a challenge. Should it be?

what program? pro e by chance?

i tihnk they just want the machine number. if you tell me what app i can tell you how to get it.

It's for "IDEAS" (one of Pro-Es main competitors)...

I can "see" one of the servers from my client box, but I can't see the other server I need the LMHost ID because only IT knows where it is and what its called...

So... The LMHost ID is something generated by an application and not an Windows-native function?

iirc, its just looking for the nic's physical address. type ipconfig /all and look for

Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : 00-11-25-06-02-54

of course yours will be different.
