Questions about the rules belong in Forum Issues. In response to your question, variations upon in before the lock are still bannable offenses. Though it may not always seem like it, us moderators don't catch everything.

It was a subjective locking. Personally, I'd agree that it wasn't anything against the rules, but I'm not a moderator.

You might actually have better luck with your question by sending a PM to Anandtech Moderator or posting about this in the Forum Issues forum.

But in looking, I'd say it was locked b/c it was an open invitation to Nef. I can see it quickly filling up with people making I BTL posts just to find out.
