How does one clean a CRT's glass...

I have a Sony CPD-E540/B, and I've tried using that special Endust crap for electronics and glass, no-streak glass cleaner, breathing heavily on the glass itself, just a dab of water, and lens cleaner (all using a microfiber cloth). No matter what I do, I just cannot seem to get rid of the streaks. Of course, it's not very noticeable when there aren't any ambient lights (i.e. when the lamp opposite my desk is turned off). However, when I do turn on the lights or if I open the blinds covering the window next to my desk, it's pretty freakin' annoying.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

When I clean my monitor I just simply apply some window cleaner or TV cleaner to a cloth until it is damp (not soaked) and then rub the monitor screen evenly just remember not to apply the cleaner directly to the monitor. It is also best to turn off the monitor when cleaning it.

I use kensington screen cleaner which u can get at office depot, and most places like that. 4 0z. pump bottle. I always get streaking if the monitor is turned off, (cold screen) no matter what i use to clean with. To get no streaks I spray small amt of cleaner on screen while the monitor is on and warm. The cleaner dispenses in a very fine atomized spray and doesnt run. Then gently buff the screen with a very soft, clean 100% cotton t shirt. I think most know not to use window cleaner:roll:

And why is that? The only thing you ahve to make sure of is that it does not contain ammonia in it as it can wear out the outer coating (Anti-Reflective Anti-Glare) on your monitor screen

If you ask monitor manufacturers, vinegar is frowned on as much as ammonia due to the acidity and damage potential. Just which window cleaners does that leave?

Take 2 paper towels, a wet one and a dry one. Wipe a small area of the screen with the wet one and immediately dry it off with the dry one. Work your way accross the screen like this and you should be streak free. Works for me anyway.

Be carefull with any of those cleaner sprays. I used one for a bit that was advertised "safe for crt's" but when I read the ingredients and emailed my crt manufacturer they said it could hurt the anti-glare coating. Water's the best bet.
