Any serious art collectors on here? How did you get your art works? I am pretty clueless on how to obtain art pieces. Most of my pieces are either from cruise art auctions, garage sale, or ebay. Recently I saw a few awesome pieces by a certain artist, and I've just found out that he is releasing some more new pieces later on. So how does one order these on the first day it is released? I just don't want to pay the secondary market/gallery markup prices.

In the past, I had bought a few pieces directly from the artists themselves. I would go to shows and speak with the artists and get something from their next collection of works, or something they had done previously but wasn't placed in a gallery. Always much cheaper in my experience.

the problem is this artist is already very famous, so its not like he is a straving artist that will pull a piece of work out his trunk and ask you how much you want to pay for it. ;) Most of his older stuff are 'sold out' and you can only get it from an art gallery and pay probably 2-3x of what they paid, so I guess I want to be just like the gallery, to buy the piece the first day that it come out. I guess I need to talk to his publisher?
