How does one become an actor/actress?

I was wondering what kind of advice is out there from people who have "made" it or simply enjoy acting?

Where does one actually "start"? I always read about these kids that were pushed along by their parents into acting school sometimes before they could even walk.

What about adults that want to become actors? How does one begin and how do you get auditions?

Just curious.

You people are a RIOT!

Alot of actors/actresses DO seem to come from waiter/waitress jobs. I can't even count the number of times I have read that. I remember something about Brad Pitt wearing a chicken suit or some crazy ass thing like that, and Tom Cruise waited tables in NYC.

I'm wondering though, how do you actually get an agent/audition for things? I'm a normal person, but sometimes I think about how cool it would be to be an actor and see yourself on TV/commercials.

I really don't want to do the porn thing, as I don't want to get 'labeled' as a big d*ck in the industry

Take some portfolio pictures and send them out...

Make sure you have either acting experience (school plays, or professional plays, etc) or go to "acting" school. Good Luck, Have Fun, No Hacking!
