Does it work like a credit card would cause I would love to pay off a laptop over the course of a year.

And most credit cards aren't?

Depends. Most premium cards are not. My Total Merrill has a fixed rate of 5.9%, and most "premium" cards that are not airline cards have rates under 10%, and balance transfers at 0%. So, you could purchase with one card, do a balance transfer to a 0% card, and then enjoy the 0% for a year. Now, I don't suggest that unless you can pay it off in 6 months.

No? I've got a Chase Platinum card that's at like 9.99, and you can get a 'primelock' card from Capital One which is at like 6% APR.

Fairly impossible to get that Capital One Prime-Lock card since you can't apply for it as it is a targeted promotion. And then you've got to deal with the penultimate craptastic credit card company of them all. Capital One is simply masquerading as a Prime company when they are no more than a thinly-veiled sub-prime syphilitic piece of feces with usurious interest rates and annual fees on cards that CERTAINLY have no need for them. With Prime lendors like MBNA, Citi, and Chase there is simply not a reason in the world to go with another Visa/MC company unless you are a getting a specialized card (Audi, Alaska Airlines, etc from Bank One or the like. Of course Amex > * but having Visa/MC cards are necessary for the asshole merchants that won't take them. Discover is so horrible they aren't worth mentioning.
