How does my office (or computer room) look?

So, this weekend I purchased a huge IKEA Galant system, plus the Galant filing cabinet/drawers, plus a little TV stand.

I'm not sure if I'm too happy with it though because I don't think the black/brown color I got matches the room, and the desk is also HUGE (I got the desk plus two extensions).

Here is my old layout: (more pictures available here)

What do you guys think?

My wife and I think it really doesn't go at all because it doesn't match the blinds or the couch-thing (chase?). We are completely terrible at interior decorating.

Anyways, what do you think? Also, feel free to post pictures of your own office or computer room :)

Time to get new couches! I agree that the new furniture doesn't match the existing blinds and couch.

I think I want your new desk. Very nice, big work surface. Yep; you need a new couch/chair.

Yeah, it's a pig style in there but that's because the room is torn apart from the remodeling. I'll post a picture after I'm finished with everything. Honest!

Is it the couch that doesn't match or is it the blinds? ...or both?

What do you think about the style of the new desk versus the old one?

Where did you get that desk from and what is it called?

Nevermind, Ikea Galant. ARGH I wish they had Ikea around where I live. :(

The big pile of shit in the middle of the room might make it annoying to walk in and out. Other than that it looks ok, but cell phone cameras can die in a fire. Better photos plx.

Edit - also the big bundles of wire hanging with the speakers look really freaking weird. Fix that immediately, thx.

Ignore the speakers, wires, and the mess... The picture was just to demonstrate placement and color :)

Do you really think I can just change out the blinds and keep the couch? :\

it looks like a damn mess. yeah, the desk and all looks nice, but the rest of the room looks like hell. there's too much bullshit on the floors and whatnot. you need to learn how to organize things and not be sloppy before you can enjoy your office.

jjsole: You don't think the carpet matches the blinds? Actually my wife didn't think the desk matched anything else. Regardless though, my window frame (and trim) is all light brown. I don't think I could've gotten any other blinds except for light-down.

eits: Scroll up a few posts. I explained that it's a completely mess because of the remodeling. This picture was taken about five minutes after I installed the desk and threw a few items onto it...
