How does i815e AC97 audio compare for recording?

I've been trying to find info giving a baseline of the ac97 performance, pretty unsucessfully. can anyone point me to a faq or give an opinion?

I'm building a graphic workstation that I also want to use to record cd's from vinyl. I'm not interested at all in game/3d quality sound from this machine, just good A/D conversion.
