I assume that Google search is case sensitive? I'd guess formal searches such as Lady Gaga or Ron Paul have most news searches included, while ron paul or mitt romney includes less formal pages like forum discussions, personal blogs, etc.. Which makes sense, and according to all the searches I've tried so far - that seems to be the case. So why is Mitt Romney the only one I've came across which does not seem to be case sensitive? And if it is, like the others, wouldn't that mean there is exactly equal amounts of formal/informal references to Romney? Sounds like too crazy of coincidence to me.

Ron Paul - 22,400,000 results
Ron paul - 52,500,000
ron paul - 23,100,000
ron Paul - 52,500,000

Mitt Romney - 21,300,000
Mitt romney - 21,300,000
mitt romney - 21,300,000
mitt Romney - 21,300,000

Rick Perry - 50,200,000
Rick perry - 50,200,000
rick perry - 50,200,000
rick Perry - 18,600,000

Lady Gaga - 206,000,000
Lady gaga - 131,000,000
lady gaga - 498,000,000
lady Gaga - 114,000,000

Bill Gates - 14,800,000
Bill gates - 13,300,000
bill gates - 13,300,000
bill Gates - 46,800,000

update; well I just tried from google.com, and I get completely different results (I've been using Firefox's google page. Going back to home to do each search). Also if you just continue searches without leaving google results, the # stays the same.

I'm not insisting there is some Mitt Romney conspiracy, I'm just confused why this is like this.. Is Firefox google search that different? & why is that particular term not case sensitive? Anyone find any other names which isn't?

edit: Well apparently my own name is also non-case sensitive. wtf

Google uses test groups for algorithmic changes. A certain percentage of people get the change at the first. Its possible that you fell into different test groups when you used google.com and firefox google.
